About Miss Kristin
k&w.HEIC

Hi, I'm Kristin. I’m a native of the Bay Area, and consider myself deeply connected to the natural world and passionate about fostering community bonds.

Cooking with plants brings me immense joy, as does spending time with my beloved kitty, Wagsworth. Traveling and immersing myself in different cultures has profoundly shaped my perspective on life. I’m grateful for all of the beauty that surrounds me!

I attended San Jose State University as part of the Communication Studies program, and earned an Early Childhood certification from The San Francisco Montessori Teacher Education Center.

One of my deepest honors and greatest joys is serving children in their educational development. Witnessing moments of spontaneous learning is like experiencing pure magic. The thrill of seeing a child read their first word is something truly special to me.

My greatest wellspring of hope for our planet lies in our children, and I’m wholeheartedly committed to nurturing a future generation that is healthy, happy and successful.

It is my belief that...

we are hardwired as humans to speak and to communicate. This gives us the experience of belonging. Part of belonging is being able to communicate, read and engage with the world around us!

As a society, we have to ensure that ALL children can become joyful, independent, inquisitive, and lifelong learners. A huge component of that is literacy. Literacy is a fundamental pillar of a just and equitable society. A person who is able to read is able to learn about anything! Learning to read is a crucial step in being empowered to guide the course of your own learning.

While it is true that American children are traditionally taught to read between 1st and 3rd grades, it is also important to note that every child is different, and some may show a readiness and an inherent desire to learn to read at an earlier age. I seek to help children become confident readers early on, with a desire to set them up for academic success and a lifelong love for reading.
