1-on-1 Literacy lessons are for kiddos who have a curiosity about reading and writing!

 

We will develop understanding of letter sounds, practice handwriting and start to build words with the moveable alphabet. 

My teaching approach uses hands-on materials to support joyful learning.

 

I also take time to attune to the child and their needs in the moment. For example, we might go on a treasure hunt to find all of the objects that begin with the sound “a” or for older kiddos the sound “sh”. This type of activity not only provides an opportunity to move and to be adventurous, but it indirectly strengthens the child’s working memory and their capacity to stay present with a task! It is important to me that my students feel comfortable and supported in their needs to make learning not only possible...but FUN! 

 

One-on-One Literacy Lessons Include:

• 50 minute uninterrupted session in-home for optimal learning comfort

• Customized session for each child's individual learning needs

• Multi-sensory experience to support joyful learning

• Personalized support, decodable books, and responsive feedback during each session

Note: An initial trial session will be had to ensure we're a good fit in working together. If we decide to proceed with our learning, a 3-month commitment is encouraged to effectively track the arc of the child's progression. My availability for in-person one-on-one literacy lessons are in the East Bay, Marin and Sonoma counties.
